Ilford has above average crime but excellent schools that attract families. The Elizabeth line has improved the area significantly. Crime varies enormously by postcode — the IG1 town centre has more crime while outer IG2 and IG4 postcodes are considerably safer.
Valentines (IG1 outer), Gants Hill (IG2) and Woodford Bridge (IG8) are the safer parts of the area.
Ilford town centre and parts of Seven Kings have higher crime rates.
